Our precious aunt Patsy Laverne Jefferies (Patsy Laverne Butler), age 89, of Georgetown passed away on October 20, 2022. Patsy was born on April 15, 1933, in Breckenridge to her parents, the late Ted and Myrtle Butler. She married the love of her life, RD Jefferies, on March 30, 1957, and they were married for 65 years.
Patsy graduated from the University of North Texas in 1955 with a degree in education and embarked on a 35-year teaching career with the Dallas Independent School District. Patsy first taught at the Thomas Edison Learning Center in Oak Cliff starting in 1956. Patsy also helped open Amelia Earhart Elementary School and spent the rest of her career teaching at Kiest Elementary School.
Following Patsy’s retirement, Patsy and RD moved to Georgetown, Texas. Patsy joined St. Johns United Methodist Church where she served on the bereavement committee.
Patsy and RD enjoyed travelling all over the US (too many trips to Las Vegas to count!). Patsy also enjoyed needlepointing and cross-stitching and blessed many of her friends and family with her beautiful creations.
One of the kindest people we’ve ever known, she loved showering her family, friends, the trashmen, the postman, and her neighbors with treats.
Patsy was predeceased by her husband, RD, her sisters, Helen Butler Green and Edith Butler Magness, and her parents. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and a great-great-great nephew.
We would like to thank Cheryl Lockburner and the staff at Helpgivers for the wonderful care they have taken of R.D. and Patsy over the years. We would also like to thank the staff of Tiffin House for their care of Patsy.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Johns UMC in Georgetown.
To honor Patsy's life, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at St. Johns United Methodist Church, 311 University Avenue Georgetown, Tx 78628.
