Edna Baughman, age 84, passed away on July 8, 2020 in Round Rock, Texas. She was born on October 4, 1935 in Rhode Island and raised in Massachusetts. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who new her.
She was a volunteer for Round Rock Caregivers and will be remembered as a lively, interesting person who was fun to talk with. Because of her husband, Jacob Baughman’s, military career, she lived in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Illinois, and California before finally making Texas her home. He passed away at the young age of 48. After he passed away, she moved to Maine, where she met her companion of twenty years, Ernest Sargent. Sadly, he passed away after they were both admitted to the hospital in the same week.
She collected candles and candle-stick holders and miniature figurines, especially ceramic cats of all sizes and shapes. She also loved cats and had two Seal Point Siamese for a long time, and they brought her great joy. In her later years, she decided to not make as many plans, and instead just take life day by day, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Edna had a long history of helping others. She drove for Meals on Wheels when she lived in Maine, and loved her time working and volunteering with Round Rock Caregivers. She loved the ladies that she drove for and was thankful for that task, as she said it helped her learn her way around Round Rock.
Her daughter Cheryl lives in Austin, so Edna was able to see her often for meals, shopping and running around together. Cheryl's husband, Bill Flamm, was Edna's favorite son-in-law in the whole wide world, and she was grateful to have them both living so close to her. Her other daughter, Brenda, lives in Michigan, and she has four children and five grandchildren, which made Edna a grandmother and great-grandmother.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hampton Senior Living in Round Rock for their compassionate care of Edna over the last seven and a half years.
A celebration of Edna’s life will be held at a later date.
