Arthur J. Dimaline, Jr. age 85, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024 in Round Rock, Texas. He was born on September 27, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas to Arthur J. Dimaline, Sr. and Lillian Rey Dimaline. He was raised in San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Converse,Texas as his father was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad. Most of his youth was spent in San Antonio, where he attended Northeast High School, now MacArthur High School. After high school, he joined the Texas National Guard, and shortly thereafter became a life insurance agent.
Since 1959, Arthur was blessed to have insured many clients across Texas and Oklahoma. He started his career with Southland Life Insurance Company. Taken under the guidance of Frank Norwood, he quickly rose within the ranks as a top salesman. He received numerous awards including the Million Dollar Round Table and Southland Life Man of the Year.
Arthur then formed Arthur Dimaline and Associates, providing insurance brokerage service for all forms of insurance. He insured funeral homes across Texas and Oklahoma and was passionate about the insurance industry, never retiring. The family would like to thank so many great funeral directors that became his clients as well as his friend.
Arthur worked hard and played hard. Boating, fishing and hunting were his hobbies. He owned a couple of sport fishing boats, including his beloved 41' Hatteras, Le Cabotin-- and 33' Concord, No Le Hace. He was an accomplished boater, and member of the Houston Power Squadron, where he taught navigation, maintenance and boater safety. He caught the Texas State Record Yellowfin Tuna during one of the Texas International Fishing Tournaments out of Port Isable, Texas. He also caught numerous billfish in the Gulf of Mexico, Pacific Ocean off Mexico and Kona, Hawaii. He looked up to, admired and developed lifelong friendships with many other accomplished captains and anglers in Port Aransas, Texas usually sitting at Shorty's Bar.
Equally passionate about hunting, his adventures landed Arthur trophies in South Texas, West Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Alaska and Mexico. He explored with a passion bass fishing on a pond in a pasture, fly fishing a mountain stream in the high country, fishing the flats or the East Breaks far off shore in the Gulf of Mexico and the remote Kamishak River in Katmai National Park, Alaska. In addition, he loved hunting birds with friends, hunting the senderos of South Texas and the meadows of the Continental Divide. We are truly blessed to have shared in these adventures with him along with many good laughs. Arthur was also blessed to share two stepping, traveling and living with his wife, Susan, for over 25 years.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur J. Dimaline, Sr. and Lillian Rey Dimaline; and his sister, Reyna Hope Dimaline. He is survived by his wife, Susan of Georgetown, Texas; children, Leslie Ann Dimaline, Arthur J. Dimaline, IV (Jeannie), David F. Dimaline (Jennifer) all of San Antonio; and step-daughter, Tria Foster (Manor) of Austin. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The family would like to thank the many friends in Sun City, especially Jan Dobbs and Sunny and Joel Albrecht; San Gabriel Nursing Home and Traditions Hospice for his loving care. A private memorial service will be scheduled in Port Aransas at a later date.
A bigger than life Texan, he brought laughter and love to many. He will always be missed.
