Thomas Baber Callahan, 85, of Gastonia passed away peacefully on Thursday October 21, 2021 in Lincolnton, North Carolina. Tom was born to the late Willine (Baber) and Glen Callahan on August 30, 1936 in Charlotte, North Carolina. After High School Tom joined, and proudly served his county, in the United States Army before he began his life long career in sales. Professionally, Tom worked for Flintkote, Certainteed and lastly Industrial Products until he retired.
Tom lived life the fullest. He had no regrets and he said that he did everything he ever wanted in his life. He enjoyed boating and both water and snow skiing. He hiked the Appalachian Trail. He had a full and active life and he did not retire until he was 80 years old.
A service celebrating the life of Tom will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday October 28, 2021, in the Cardinal Hall of Carothers Funeral Home, at 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina.
The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 9:30 AM at the funeral home. Lite refreshments will be served.
A graveside committal, with full military honors accorded by The United States Army, will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday October 28, 2021 at the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old U.S. Highway 70, Black Mountain, North Carolina.
