Shirley Price Frisbee, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 13, 2021 at The Stanley Total Living Center. Unknown to many, Shirley was a talented artist. Shirley was an excellent seamstress and she enjoyed making her own and her family’s clothing. She arranged flowers. Shirley was most happy when she could help others. She was involved in the Senior Citizen’s ministry at her church. Shirley attended the Freewill Baptist Church in Stanley and later she was a regular attender at Steel Creek Church in Charlotte. She was one of seven siblings. She worked in textiles for many years, but she was most proud of her work at Belk’s Department Store. Shirley will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Luther Frisbee, in 1999. She is the daughter of the late Vera Ballard Price and Carl Price. Her daughter-in-law, Jackie Frisbee, also precedes her in death.
Left to cherish their memories of Shirley are her children – daughters, Donna Chavis and her husband Boyce McKinney and Melissa Hunter and her husband, Kevin. Shirley’s sons are, Terry Frisbee, Kenny Frisbee and his wife Kimberly and Barry Frisbee and his wife Kelly. Luther and Shirley had 13 grandchildren. Shirley’s legacy includes 19 great-grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by her sister, Phyllis “Dean” Stowe.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday July 20th, 2021 at Carothers Funeral Home Chapel, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1:00 PM in the chapel. Burial will immediately follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park.
