Peggy Helms Bryant, age 87, of Gastonia, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. She was born in Gastonia on February 23, 1936 to the late Glenn and Annie Helms, She was raised in Gastonia and graduated from Cramerton High School.
On October 5, 1952 she married Burel Edward Bryant. Peggy had a long and rewarding career with Tupperware where she reached the position of manager.
Mrs. Bryant was an outstanding example of a Pastor’s wife, mother, grandmother (mom Bryant) and great-grandmother.
She had a passion for serving God and loving her family. She played the piano, led the church choir, taught Sunday School and became a great seamstress.
Peggy was active till the end winning a gold medal in the 2022 senior Olympics as part of the Stanley Total Living Center Choir.
Mrs. Bryant was also an active member of Cramerton Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father E.C. Grant; husband Burel Edward Bryant; brothers Ray and James Helms; sister, Ovella Helms Wilson; and grandchildren John Bryant Jr. and Maddison Young.
Mrs. Bryant is survived by her children, Ronnie Bryant and his wife Carol, Teresa Bryant Colvard and her husband Darrell, John Randall Bryant Sr., and Tonya Bryant Moore and her husband Stephen; sister, Nellie Helms Phillips; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Peggy will be held from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park with a committal service following at Gaston Memorial Park.
