Patricia (Cunnup) Patterson

Mrs. Patterson was born August 18, 1942 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, the youngest daughter of the late Clyde McElwain Cunnup and Ruby Lee Plyer Cunnup. She married Woodrow W. Patterson, Jr., on June 14, 1963. He survives. She was a 1960 graduate of Fort Mill High School and retired from Saurer in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2001.

Mrs. Patterson was a woman of God and understood her responsibility to introduce her family to Jesus and prayed diligently for their relationship in Him to grow and flourish. She was affectionately known as Nanny to her grandchildren. She will be remembered most for the brightest and most beautiful smile one could receive. In her later years, she realized the importance of being able to laugh at yourself and it was indeed infectious. She never saw fault in other people except when she needed to guide one of her children toward better behavior and she was timid about attention being given to her. She will be missed greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Shirley Dean Blackwelder and Peggy Hoover, and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters including Teresa Weyeneth (Brian) of Mount Holly, NC; Amedria Stovall (Darren) of Rock Hill, SC; and Christina Clack (Shane) of Shelby, NC. Grandchildren include Candice Williams, Amanda Bailey-Cherry, Lyndsea Bailey, Hannah Snead and Briston Snead, Jr. In addition, she has twelve great-grandchildren she considered the lights of her life. She is further survived by loving nieces and nephews.

A Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Real Life Church, 15434 Lucia Riverbend Highway, Stanley, NC 28164. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will begin at 2:00 pm at the Church. Pastors Mike Davis and Phil Thomas will conduct the service.
