Joyce Marthalene (Dobbins) Hux

Joyce was born in Gastonia, NC on August 18, 1936. She was a graduate of Gastonia High School. She was married to Alvin Hux in 1960. Joyce worked for many years in the textile mills in Belmont. It was there that she met and fell in love with her husband, Al.

She had a passion for family, crafts, gardening, cooking and animals, especially cats. Joyce loved to spend time with her family and never met a stranger. She will always be remembered for her quiet strength, quick smile, patience and unconditional love.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Hux, parents John Francis and Sarah Gazzie Dobbins, brother Charles Dobbins and son in law Billy Craven.

She will be forever missed by her children Spring Craven, Mitch Hux (Amy), Tracy Weddington (Jerry) and Shawn Hux. Grandchildren Travis Weddington (Nicole), Sara Weddington, Charlie Craven, Anthony Craven, Candice Craven, her brother Johnny Dobbins (Patti), her sister Sarah Lark and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will celebrate Joyce’s life on Saturday February 17, 2024. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC. Joyce will be entombed next to her faithful husband, Al, at 2:00 pm. A brief remembrance of Joyce and her committal will be at The Mausoleum B Chapel, 1200 South New Hope in Gastonia. Reverend Roger Overton will officiate.
