Elizabeth (Altman) Patel, “Nanny,” 90 of Gastonia passed away on Sunday April 14, 2024 at home under the care of Gaston Hospice. Elizabeth was born January 22, 1934 in South Carolina to the late Gladys (Greer) Altman and Joseph Tipton.
Nanny was a loving wife, mother, nanny and friend. She retired from the textile industry where she taught many young ladies to wind. She loved to sing in her younger years and she loved reading books. She was especially fond of true crime and mystery books.
In addition to her parents, her two sons; Joseph Thomas Wykle and Robin Love Wykle precede Elizabeth in death. Also going on before her are her sisters Adalene Altman and Alice Eason and her brother, Jimmy Altman.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 50 years, Chiman Patel, of the home, and four grandchildren; Robin Wykle II, Josh Wykle (Elise), Misty Clewis (Tim) and Brandi Strange (Trey). She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren - Makayla Wykle (fiancé Austin), and Lex, Jax and Gabe Strange. Her legacy includes, the current love of her life, great-great child, Brentley Funderburk. Her sister, Faye Drum as well as many beloved nieces and nephews also survive her.
Family and friends will gather at 12:00 pm on Thursday April 19, 2024 in the mausoleum “B” Chapel at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 South New Hope Road in Gastonia to transition Elizabeth to her final resting place.
