A native of Gaston County, he was the son of the late Edward and Annalee McCarnes Haney.
Mr. Haney was a United States Army Vietnam veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Haney of the home; children, Doug Haney Jr. and wife Oneta of Lincolnton, Steven Haney of Mt. Holly, Michael Haney of Mt. Holly, Rená Huffstetler and husband Joseph of Gastonia, Danny Gosnell and fiancé Leslie Watts of Ranlo; sisters, Thelma Sweet, Edna Goins, Mary Foster, Nolia Coleman; grandchildren, Bryan Haney, Christopher Haney, Trinity Huffstetler, Damian Haney, Megan Haney, Daniel Haney, Jenny Cisneros; great-grandchildren, Hailey Haney, Jacob Haney and Keren Cisneros.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Sonny Haney, Bill Haney, Gary Haney, Junior Haney, Roy Haney and infant twins.
A funeral service will be held at 3pm Friday in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia with Rev. Bruce Huffstetler officiating.
Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park with military honors provided by Gaston County Honor Guard and escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3pm Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
