Donley E. Proctor, TSgt USAF, retired, “Don”, 96, passed away on July 2, 2019 in Gastonia, NC. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. Don will surely be missed by all. He was the son of Frank and Viola of Nash County, NC. Don retired from the United States Air Force and the Naval Surface Weapons Center near Dahlgren, VA. He was a WWII Veteran and received many commendations and medals for Meritorious Service during his military and civil service careers. He served an honorable, successful and long career.
He enjoyed traveling while in the military and after he retired. He was an avid reader, pet lover, gardener and loved to play bridge and other card games. He enjoyed spending time with his family and extended families on holidays and visiting with them in the summer months taking picnics to state, national and historical sites.
He was baptized at Terrell Wells Baptist Church in Terrell Wells, TX while serving in the military. He was a long time member of Friendship Baptist Church in Stafford, VA and then at Missionary Gospel Baptist Church in Sharpsburg, NC. He was also an active member of VFW 2057 and Meals on Wheels volunteer for many years.
He is survived by and memory cherished by daughter, Angela Proctor Taylor, husband, Ken, sons, Charles Isgett, wife, Joanne , William Isgett, wife, Peggy, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, Pastor Allen Mills and church family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annabel Moore Isgett Proctor, parents, Frank and Viola, brothers, Antone, Herman, Jessie, Robert, Benford, Marshall and sisters, Vera Everett, Lula Snipes, Margie Wooten, Odell Rowe, Susie Campbell and Minnie Lee Drake , stepchildren, Bobbie Isgett Odom, Patricia Isgett Mitchell and Fred Isgett.
He was interred with his wife, Ann, of 33 years at Quantico National Cemetery on July 11 with a family graveside Military Honors Service. Chaplain, Captain Keith A. Manry of Andrews Air Force Base was officiant at his service along with the Anchorage, Alaska Honor Guard Team. Arrangements were made by Carothers Funeral Home and Dignity Memorial.
Any memorials or expressions of love, he requested be sent to Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, Meals on Wheels of Rocky Mount, or the American Red Cross for Disaster Relief.
