Cecil William Bowers, 89, peacefully passed away at CaroMont Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family on December 4, 2020 in Gastonia, North Carolina. Cecil was born on February 16, 1931 in Wesser Creek, North Carolina to Artie (Truitt) and Thomas William Bowers. Cecil was a dedicated, diligent hardworking man who strived to achieve accuracy and effectiveness. Professionally, he worked for Wix as a supervisor and later transitioned to Flanders Filters as a Machine Design Engineer. He designed an intricate detailed machine for Flanders Filters giving him the title” The Legend” by his fellow coworkers. This machine is still in use today. Above all else, Cecil was a devoted, loving father, and he was an attentive, loyal friend. He deeply loved spending time with his family, and always had a huge bear hug to greet each one. With each visit, he would have a story to share, and constantly expressed to each family member how much he loved them. He was continually lending a hand to his friends and neighbors by working in yards, giving out rides, or just being a listening ear. Cecil immensely enjoyed being outdoors and accomplishing projects. One of his favorite pass times, was speeding around on his mower grooming the yard. He perpetually had an enormous smile on his face while seated on his mower. He touched so many lives during his lifetime. His love for the Lord, he shared with all those around him. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
Preceding Cecil in death are his parents, Artie (Truitt) and Thomas William Bowers, two daughters, Diane Ragland and Crystal Barrett, a granddaughter, Angel Cunningham, and a great granddaughter, Emily Martin.
