Betty was a longtime owner of Linwood Beauty Salon, later owned and operated B J's Beauty Salon for 60 years. She was a person of strong faith who loved her family and friends dearly and was a longtime member of Myrtle UMC.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, David, and by her husband of 70 years, Bobbie Lackey who died July 17, 2021. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Howard Heavener, Bill Heavener, Lewis Heavener, and Leonard Tate Heavener, Jr.
Surviving are her sister, Elise (Peck) McCarter of Brooksville, Fl. and brothers, Larry R. Heavener, Sr. of Greensboro, NC, and Jimmy Douglas Heavener of Surfside, SC. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Myrtle United Methodist Church in Gastonia.
