William Hodges

He obtained a vocational certification in auto mechanics and retired from Boyd Brothers Transportation after 35 years of trucking.

He was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl Hodges, whom he shared 43 years of marriage. His parents Edgar Ira and Mary Ruth Hodges of Gardendale and D.S. and Kathleen Morrison of Bessemer. His brother Larry Hodges of Corner. His sister-in-law Denise Blackwell of Jasper.

He is survived by his daughters Christy (Greg) Wilcox of Argo and Rhonda Hodges of Margaret; one dearly loved grandson John Michael Wilcox; brothers James (Linda) Hodges of Foley, Lee (Becky) Hodges of Hayden; sisters Ruby (Paul) Griffin of Panama City, FL, Margaret (Ronnie) Tingle of Pinson, Mary (Mitchell) Crowley of Gardendale and Barbara (Bobby) Crocker of Gardendale; sister-in-law Deb Liles of Jasper; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would to extend a special thank you to the staff and physicians of Grandview Medical Center, Dr. Barry Rayburn, Dr. A.F. Patton and Compassus Palliative Care for their love and dedication to our Dad.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 11 am at Ridout in Gardendale AL with graveside services at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family ask to make a donation in the memory of William and Cheryl Hodges to either the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Foundation for research in Congestive Heart Failure and Diabetes research.
