Sidney "Sid" Earl Rasco, age 84, peacefully passed away on July 14th, 2024. Born February 25, 1940, to the late Joe and Mary Louise Rasco, Sid was one of nine siblings. He proudly served his country as a Vietnam veteran in the United States Navy aboard the USS Buckaneer.
Sid was known for his cheerful demeanor and playful spirit, always finding joy in life's moments and delighting in harmless pranks. He was a natural leader within his family, known for his warm heart and ability to connect with anyone he met.
A passionate gardener and lover of music, Sid cultivated beautiful gardens and enjoyed canning his harvest. His dedication to quality produce led to the establishment of Sid's Produce, a beloved fixture in the Gardendale community following his retirement as a Supervisor with Southern Natural Gas.
Animals held a special place in Sid's heart, particularly his canine companion, Fat Lady. He was an avid supporter of the underdog, evidenced by his loyalty to Notre Dame and his spirited cheers for Dale Earnhardt, Sr. at NASCAR races.
Above all, Sid cherished time spent with his family. In recent months, he found great joy in weekly breakfast gatherings with his siblings at Ken’s BBQ, sharing laughter and stories with their favorite waitress, Megan, whom they warmly embraced as part of the Rasco family.

Rasco, his loving daughters and their spouses, Amy and Matt Hannah, Kelly and Mike Wallace, and Shelly Dawn and Rudy Aguilar, his cherished "son from another mother," James "JT" Thomas, and his adoring grandchildren Crystal, Cody, Brandon, Kayla, Justin, Ana, and Madison, along with eight great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his dear sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Marty Harold Martin, Mary and Don White, and Margie and Gerald Bryant; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Allen and Julie Rasco, Wayne and Ellen Rasco, Kenneth and Diane Rasco, and Gary and Dale Rasco, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
