Lora McCollum Johnston

Lora McCollum Johnston of Fultondale, AL was born September 27, 1919 and passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at the age of 94. Lora was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ormond A. Johnston; and her parents, Mollie Box and Byrd McCollum of Eldridge, AL. She is survived by her loving family, daughters, Betty Fulton (Allen) of Montevallo, Alabama; Shirley Hall (Jerome) of Gardendale, Alabama; Wanda Tucker (Steve) of Northport, Alabama; a son, Thomas Glenn Johnston (Linda) of Sterrett, Alabama; her grandchildren, Rhonda Cubbedge of Harahan, LA; Lynn Morgan (Charlie) of Atlanta, GA; Brian Johnston (Heather R.) of Westover, Alabama; and Andrea Sligh (Scott) of Fairhope, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Lily, Isabel and Evvie Morgan, Jake and Zack Johnston, Sarah Kate and Nathan Sligh; a special thanks to relatives and friends George Aplin, Mary Roby, Denise Harris, and Betty McCollum; and her caregivers with Alabama Hospice of Birmingham, Tonya Hill, Eva Bolar, and Sharon Jones.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 2nd at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 6 til 8 pm followed by chapel services on Wednesday beginning at 11 am. Interment will follow in Walker’s Chapel Cemetery in Fultondale. Minister Larry Alexander will officiate the service.
