A Memorial Celebration of Life Service for Coy Julian Alford, 85, will be Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 10:00AM at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, with Rev. Johnny Robertson officiating. Mr. Alford will be laid to rest in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale. Visitation will be Monday, September 11, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM at Walkers Chapel Baptist Church, 1525 Briscoe Street, Fultondale, AL.
Julian passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born September 17, 1937 in Morgan County, to Coy and Jamie Holmes Alford. Julian was a graduate of Falkville High School. He was co-owner of Russell and Alford, prior to his retirement. He was a long time member of Walkers Chapel Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and incredibly valued member. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, softball, and spending time with his family.
Julian was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Jamie Alford; brothers, Cecil Alford (Voncille), Otis Alford, Bobby Alford (Clovis), and Jerry Alford; brother-in-law, Mac Golson.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Frances Jean Alford; his brother Roy Alford (Ann), his sisters Linda Turney (Don), Dot Golson, Ann Bobelak (Jim); his sister-in-law Sharon Alford; his daughter Rene Alford Patterson (Mark), and son Randy Alford (Susan); his grandchildren Caitlin Patterson (Dempsey), Nicole Patterson Hooper (Matt), Seth Alford (Lauren), and Alex Alford; his great grandson Henry Hooper and a great granddaughter arriving in October.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Metro Changers in care of Birmingham Baptist Association or Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research
