Connie Marie Lineberry Townes, 69, of Gardendale AL peacefully passed from this life into eternal life on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham after battling from complications of COVID-19.
Connie was born December 18, 1951 in Vandalia, Illinois. She married Paul Townes III in 1971 and eventually settled in Alabama in 1973. She spent many years touching lives as a kindergarten teacher aid at Saint Paul School among other jobs. Her number one job, however, was being a wonderful mother to her four children and a loving wife to her husband of almost 50 years. She also quickly learned how to spoil her ten grandchildren.
Connie is survived by her spouse, Paul Townes III; her children, Lisa Goodwin (Chris), Shelly Friedrich (Davey), Stacy Story (Jake), Paul Townes IV (Bridget); her sister Viola File; and her brother, Jerry Lineberry, in addition to her grandchildren: Savannah, Jarrett, Kaylee, Levi, Jayden, Riley, Dominic, Samuel, Alannah, and Joshua. Connie was preceded in death by her parents Ruby Mills Elam and Gerald Lineberry.
Visitation for Connie will be 6-8 pm Wednesday, January 13 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel. Rosary will be at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, January 14 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Gardendale AL, followed by mass at 11:00. Burial will then take place at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
