Alene Grantland Harris, of Gardendale passed away Friday, September 16, 2011 with her niece at her side. She was the last of the Grantland Family having been preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Harris and her sons: Charles and Dale. Alene was a faithful member of Gardendale First Baptist Church and the Welcome Bible Fellowship Class. Survivors include her grandson, Chuck (Danielle) Storme; great grandsons: Nickolas and Dillon; step great grandson, Leif and step great granddaughter, Holly; nieces: Gail, Arlene, Janice, Jeraldine, Brenda, Latane, Myra and Treva; nephew, Kenneth; and numerous cousins and friends. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
