William “Bill” O. Waters, Ellabell, Age 72, passed away under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro Georgia on August 4th, 2015. He was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia and graduated from Savannah High School in the class of 1961. Bill retired from Gulf Life Insurance Company after 20 years of service, and then subcontracted for SJC Properties in their satellite offices, where he was known as Mr. Bill, until he retired due to health issues in 2011. Bill lived and died a Shriner; being raised a Master Mason, joining The Scottish Rite and becoming a Shriner in 1979. He joined The Directors Staff Unit that same year, where he held the office of President in 1989 and served as The Director of Works for many years during the 90’s. Bill was also the chairman of the Grounds Crew for the Shriner Center along with various other offices throughout Masonry and Shrinedom over the years. He also was a member of The Royal Order of Jesters Court 134. Within the Shrine organization, as in life, Bill was a man among men. When he talked, men listened. When he led, men followed. Bill Waters embodied the true definition of a Shriner Mason, with unwavering integrity, virtue and honor. Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, William O. Waters Sr. and Laura Bell Waters and his son William Robert “Bobby” Waters. He survived by his wife of 53 years, Brenda Gail Waters, daughter and son in law Cindy and David Snyder and grandchildren Brittany Waters, Mason Snyder and Jake Snyder, brother and sister in law Tommy and Debbie Waters and nieces Tonya Morgan and Marcy Beaver.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Crematory in Garden City Georgia. A Memorial service will be at 5:30 PM immediately following the memorial gathering.
