2022. He was born on July 7, 1934 in Miami, Florida, to the late William and Sarah (Franklin) Buff. He
met Mary Alice Rude while they were attending the University of Florida together and have spent 66 years married.
Wade and Mary settled in the Columbus area in 1979, after Wade accepted a position with the Limited
Brands. He ultimately retired from the company as the Vice President of Internal Audit after 22 years.
His hobbies included golf and gardening. He loved spending time in Florida, where he spent his winters
for over 25 years, and traveling to Cedar Point with his family.
He was a founding member of the music group the Dream Weavers, who had a top 10 hit titled “It’s
Almost Tomorrow.” His greatest love and achievement was his family. His wife, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.
In addition to his parents, Wade was preceded in death by his son, David, and his nine brothers and
sisters.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary Buff; children, Darren, Susan (Don) Delgado; Jeannie (Rick)
Mayes; grandchildren, David (Olivia) Berrier, Keith (Alyssa) Berrier, Jonathan Mayes, Jared Mayes,
Connor Mayes, Sydney Delgado; great-grandchild Minerva Berrier; and many nieces, nephews, and
friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 14 from 10-11am at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, where a Funeral Service will follow at 11am. Private family interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to GEAR Gardens. GEAR (Gahanna Employability Adult Readiness) Gardens is a new campaign designed to create an off-campus agricultural program to support Special Education students at Gahanna Lincoln High School. Jared Mayes is a student in GEAR and shared a love of the outdoors with his grandfather.
