Tom was known for his warm and kind spirit – he never knew a stranger. He also loved to make people laugh. After greeting people, he would often say, “I’m Tom Goedeking. How do you like me so far?” Neighbors, friends, and family would often find their car washed if left in his driveway, and their grass mowed if times were tough for them. Tom had a joyful charisma which was still evident even after Alzheimer’s had advanced. Although he spent his sales career in the corrugated paper industry in various leadership positions, he will be remembered more for his devotion to his family and to his wife whom he adored, Simin. He truly enjoyed his days spent with them, and particularly if Beatles music was playing in the background.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Simin Goedeking; their children Jamie (Ryan) McLean, Leslie (Jamie) Brown; his brothers, John (Diane) Goedeking and Arthur Goedeking, Jr.; and grandchildren, Lucy and Grant McLean, Samantha and Alex Beleski, and Abbie Brown.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Eunice (Archibald) Goedeking and father, Arthur Goedeking as well as his sister, Joan (Roy) Kohlhausen.
Family will be receiving guests on Saturday, December 28th, 2024 from 9:30am -10:30am, with Tom’s Memorial Service at 10:30am at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230.
