Lorene Marie (Estep) Nichols, 91, passed away December 31, 2022, in Newark, Ohio. She was born November 5, 1931, in Braxton County, West Virginia to parents Katheryn (White) and Pastor Wilbur “Tuck” Estep. Lorene was 19 when she married Robert Neil Nichols, in Gassaway, West Virginia on April 7, 1951, moved to Ohio and remained partners in life until his passing in November, 2008. She worked at Barberton Citizens Hospital as a billing clerk and later at Akron General Hospital where she retired as an IBM processor. She was an avid crafter and painter, mostly working with ceramics and woodwork. She was involved in her church work and attended the Akron Baptist Temple in Akron, Faith Baptist Church in Medina, and Faith Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. She also enjoyed hosting bible study classes in her home. She also loved being a grandmother to her 6 grandchildren and grandma-the-GREAT to her 9 great grandkids.
Lorene is survived by her daughter Margaret (Al) Nichols Trim of Gahanna, and son Robert (Sharon) Neil Nichols, Jr. of Strongsville; grandchildren Bryan (Amiee) Wagner of Groveport, Lisa (Max) Marti of Worthington, Audrey (Thomas) Walker of North Ridgeville, Daniel Svoboda (Samantha) of Seville, Stacy Koenig (Jake) of Wellington and Nadine Rose Nichols of Medina; and great grandchildren Logan Wagner, Lucas Wagner, Madison Wagner, Delaney Marti, Samantha Marti, Jackson Svoboda, Owen Svoboda, Colton Koenig, and Emma Koenig.
Lorene was the eldest of 11 brothers and sisters and is survived by Carol McQueeney of Medina, Jack (Joyce) Estep of Egg Harbor, NJ, Retha Wentink of Seville, Roger (Judy) Estep of Medina, Lester (Sandy) Jones of Medina, Carl (Jackie) Jones of Medina; and sister-in-law Delores Estep of Frametown, WV. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
A private burial service will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
