Kathy Lynne Moore, age 70, of Gahanna, Ohio passed away on August 5, 2022. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Jack and Barbara (Matheny) Moore and sister-in-law Elizabeth (Chappell) Moore. She is survived by her brother Scott (Roni) Moore of Gahanna; David Moore of San Jose, California; Steven and Terri Moore of Columbus; and very special daughter Tomeka Brown, and special grandson, Tyson Whitehead. Her family also includes nephew, Bryan Moore (Lisa Robinson); nieces, Amy (Nicholas) King; Erin (Jerrod) Beckloff; Ashley Moore; and Shelby Moore. Great nieces and nephews; Aria Moore, Micah Robinson, Carter Pignatelli, Aidan King, Evie King, Audrey King, and Levi Robinson. Kathy loved all her nieces, nephew, and grand nieces and nephews, spending time with them and attending their activities. Kathy was a 1970 graduate from Columbus Walnut Ridge High School, and earned both a Bachelor of Education degree from Miami University and a Masters Degree in Guidance from the University of Dayton. Kathy devoted her life to working with students as a teacher and guidance counselor for Columbus Public Schools for a total of 39 years. She taught Home Economics and was the Senior Admission and Scholarship Counselor at Marion Franklin, Briggs High Schools, and at Columbus Afrocentric Early College. Kathy helped with the creation of the Columbus Public Schools GRADS Program for teen mothers. She will be remembered that her door was always open for any student who needed help and someone to just listen. Students stayed in contact with her throughout the rest of her life. She will be missed. While she was teaching at Marion Franklin, Kathy coached volleyball and softball, and was a Cheerleading Advisor. Kathy was very proud of her work with the Marion Franklin Wrestling Mat Stats and the Marion Franklin Marionettes Drill Team for many years. The family will receive friends from 5:00–7:00pm, followed by a Memorial service at 7:00pm on Thursday, August 25th at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230. Interment will be a private family service at a later date. Because of her love for all children, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Nationwide Children’s Hospital in her name.
