Joseph Brian Schmidt

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph B. Schmidt at the age of 62, on October 26th, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He fought valiantly, embodying strength and resilience until the very end.

Born on October 12th, 1962, Joe was the youngest of four siblings. He prided himself on family, raising four children and proudly doting on his nine grandchildren. He shared his life with his long time companion, Mindy Strong.

A true lover of life, Joe found joy in camping, fishing and all things outdoors, often bringing family together for memorable adventures. He had a life long passion for anything with a motor & was a master mechanic.

He is survived by his children Courtney Holliman, Ryan (Michelle) Schmidt, Jessica (Dustin) Monk, Kaitlyn Davy-Schmidt — siblings Linda Shirk, Bob (Doris) Schmidt, Mary Ann (Jim) Mogan and best friend, Joe Wilkins. Joe was preceded in death by his loving parents, Joseph and Imogene Schmidt, niece Amber Brown, as well as his special fur companion, Lady (BooBoo).

In his passing, Joe wanted to remind us to celebrate his life and the moments we cherished together, rather than dwell in sadness.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 1st. Viewing begins at 10am at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 1051 E. Johnston Rd. Gahanna OH 43230, followed by a ceremony at 11:30am, where we will honor his memory. Burial service will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
