John F. Sherman, 91, passed away after a long, fulfilling life on December 9th. John was born on January 15, 1931 in Columbus, son of Carl and Neva Mae (Owens) Sherman. John spent 39 years proudly serving the Columbus Fire Department, many of those years spent as Chief. He was also the founder of Northland Schwinn. John loved his family, a good meal, his Cadillac and his Harley Davidson. He was a man of faith and cherished his family at St. Matthew Parish. He had many interests and hobbies including bicycles, model trains and table tennis. He was a sports enthusiast and competed in the Senior Olympics well into his eighties.
John is proceeded in death by his parents; 8 siblings; the love of his life, Norma Jean (Bisutti) Sherman and his son William “Bill” Sherman. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, John (Lois) Sherman, Bob (Kathy) Sherman and Dan (Andrea) Sherman; 6 grandchildren, Jason, Kelly, David, Hannah, Libby and Jonas; and 1 great grandchild, Abigail along with extended family and many friends. John loved all of his sons dearly but devoted his life to taking care of his special angel, (as he would often call him) Bill. He was a selfless man and we find comfort in knowing they are together again.
