Carl Joseph “Joe” Haas, 93, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on May 10, 2024, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born in Ironton, Ohio, on December 18, 1930, to William and Laura Haas. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers: Dick, Paul, Leo, Bill, Don, and Jim; one sister, Barbara; and son-in-law, Jim. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marty, of 70 years; daughter Carolyn (late husband Jim), granddaughters Heather and Holly (Grant); daughter Julie (Tom), grandchildren Nicole and Nathan (Michelle), and great-grandson Cooper; brother David (Lois); sister-in-law Peggy, brother-in-law David (Honey); nieces and nephews; and longtime friend, Kevin.
As an electronic engineer in the aerospace industry for Rockwell International, he was highly respected by his peers and colleagues. He was privileged to work with the original seven astronauts at the NASA Space Center in Houston, Texas.
An avid lifelong learner with a keen mind, he was always willing to counsel and help others. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved family and friends, traveling, watching Ohio State football games, and playing golf.
A memorial visitation will be held at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, Ohio, on May 31, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
