Mrs. Ruby Lee Pruitt Payne passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2019. Visitation will be Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 12 p.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Rev. Charlie Skaggs will officiate. There will be no graveside service.
Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Ruby was born to the late Frank and Ola Pruitt, July 26, 1934.
She attended Etowah High School and graduated from Gadsden Business College. She also graduated from Life Office Management Institute for having completed the course in Principles of Life Insurance.
Ruby was office manager for Lewis and Associates and Money Matters of Alabama for a number of years. She was an active member of James Memorial Baptist Church.
She loved Auburn Football.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Thomas Payne, parents, Frank and Ola Tucker Pruitt, daughter, Sandra McNair, son-in-law, Charles McNair, siblings, Bonnie Lee, Lora Yates, Dorothy Gladden, Ailine Baswell, Lonnie Pruitt and L. C. Pruitt, sister-in-law, Irene Pruitt, brothers-in-law, George Lee, R.C. Yates, Thomas Gladden, and James Gladden, niece, Lisa Blackwell Anders and nephew, Bobby Godsey.
Ruby is leaving behind her grandsons, Josh (Tanya) Beck, Wes Hagood and Tyler Hagood, sisters, Pauline (Calvin) McCullogh, Dollie (Terry) Brown, Leola Gladden and a host of very special nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Mrs. Payne’s memory to James Memorial Baptist Church, 2125 Ewing Avenue, Gadsden, AL 35901.
