Richard Lee Adams Jr.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Black Creek Baptist Church for Richard “Ricky” Lee Adams Jr., 31, of Gadsden who passed away February 18, 2013. Mr. Adams will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Rev. Chris Connell will officiate. Burial will be at Black Creek Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Ricky was born in Gadsden June 6, 1981. He graduated from Etowah High School in 1999. Following high school he joined the US Marine Corps and served in the reserves proudly for approximately 8 years where he was part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He received various commendations and Marine Corps Achievement medals, including: Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal. He was honorably discharged on November 18, 2007.

He was formerly employed at Goodyear Tire and rubber Company. He was saved at Black Creek Baptist Church and a member of Fairview Baptist Church He was a great son and father. He will deeply missed by all of his family and friends, especially Levi and Molly and his parents. He was a very special person with a heart of gold. We love you Ricky, you will forever live in our hearts. God bless. “Simper Fi!”

Ricky is survived by his son, Levi Adams; daughter, Molly Kate Adams; mother, Joan (Donnie “Champ”) England; father, Richard (Becky) Adams; brothers, Greg (Michelle) England, and Nate Adams, sister, Amanda (Kyle) Blackwell; uncles, James Foster, Jerry Foster, Stanley Adams, Jeffrey Adams, Jimmy Adams, and Randall Adams; and aunts, Avis Nelson, and Linda (Neil) Brooks.

Pallbearers will be: Greg England, Kyle Blackwell, Stanly Adams, Jeffrey Adams, Terry “Ratchet” Gibbs, and Luke England.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Adams, Jason Walden, and all friends and Goodyear associates.

Special thanks to the Gadsden Police Department and Riverview Medical Center E. R. , especially Robert Maltby and other EMS.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
