Rheba S. McNair Ashley

Sunday, February 15, 2015, our mother, Rheba S. McNair Ashley, age 78 of Gadsden, stepped out of the bondage of those cast on her feet and waltzed into heaven in a new pair of shoes. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Harvest Center Church of God of Prophecy. Rev. Johnny Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at the adjoining cemetery.

Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewayne Ledon “Big Man” Ashley, granddaughter, Kandice Johnson Gargus and adopted son, John Ashley.

She is survived by her children; Debbie Ashley Elrod, Beverly Kay Ashley Burns (Walter), Michael Dewayne Ashley, Joe Keith Ashley, James Wayne Ashley, chosen son, Vant Robertson, grandchildren; Heather Danielle Paez (Fernando), Brentley Dewayne Elrod and Crystal Ramos, great grandchildren; Kimberly Kay Burns, Allison Faith Bannister and Jackson Blake Bannister, sisters, Martha Waldrop and Faye Johnson and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be; Vant Robertson, Bruce Roe, Fernando Paez, Brent Elrod, Walter Burns and Dan Elrod.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Alacare Home Health, Riverview Regional ER Staff and Coats Bend Volunteer Fire Department.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ashley will lie in state for one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.
