Lunette Dempsey Stewart, age 90, of Southside, AL, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 12, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at The Tabernacle Church in Gadsden, AL. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oneonta, AL. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Alan M. Stewart, Jr.
Lunette was born to Henley and Lorene (Cornelius) Dempsey. Her brother was Mack C. Dempsey. She is survived by her children; Teresa Stewart (Robert) Reagan, Alan M. Stewart, III (Meg), and Robin Stewart (David) Diggs; grandchildren, Robert Stewart (Brandi) Reagan, Ansley Reagan (Shane) Unsworth, Corey Stewart (Brad) Corbitt, Alan M. Stewart, IV, Matt (Taylor) Diggs, and Jared (Linsie) Diggs; great grandchildren, Reagan Unsworth, Grant Unsworth, Cheyenne Corbitt, Charlotte Corbitt, Bentley Diggs, and Adeline Diggs; special cousin, Cheryl Linley; and also her beloved Cornelius, Dempsey, and Stewart family members.
Lunette was a graduate of Gadsden High School, class of 1950. Before her marriage to Alan in 1953, she was a dental assistant for Dr. W.D. Fite, and a clerk typist at Allis Chalmers. While living in Tuscaloosa when Alan attended the University of Alabama, she worked at Gulf States Paper. Later in Gadsden, for a short time she was an agent for Farm Bureau Insurance Co.
She was a long-time member of The Tabernacle Church where she served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in various ministries. She ministered Jesus at the Etowah County Jail from 1972 to 1983. She was a prayer partner at TV-60 from 1982 to 2004. Lunette was a past president of The Women’s Auxiliary of Gideons International Gadsden Camp.
Lunette was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ who served Him faithfully after accepting Him as her Savior at an early age. She loved the Word of God and strived to live her life according to its precepts in obedience to Christ, serving and loving others. She was a devoted and loving wife to Alan, Mother to her children, and Meemaw to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She touched many lives as friend, mentor, teacher and servant to her Lord.
She was a true “Southern Lady” and a wonderful hostess. She will forever be in our hearts.

The family will accept friends from 10:00AM until the hour of the service at the Church on Tuesday.
