

A visitation for John will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL 35901, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Bro. Jordan Self, Rev Sherry Reynolds, and Bro. Danny Farley will officiate.
John was a talented carpenter who enjoyed working with his hands. For most of his career, he was a general contractor, working many years for McWhorter Construction before establishing his own company and operating it for many years. He was well known in the area for the quality of his work, earning him many repeat customers. He enjoyed boating and was a civilian volunteer for the Coast Guard Auxiliary. An avid rider, he enjoyed memberships with Christian Motorcyclists Association and Red Knights Motorcycle Club. He rode the Tail of the Dragon in Smokey Mountains National Park with his grandson, Daniel Roden, as his passenger. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Falls Mountain Church was his final church family.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Nell Lankford Farley; father, Dewey Ray Farley; grandparents, Ruby Lee Alverson and Burl Lankford and Vera and Kenny Farley; and step-grandfather, Jeff Williams.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Petrucci Farley; brother, Joseph (Zach and Dillon nephews); sons, David (Meagan Bertram) Farley, and Danny (Kelly Davis) Farley; stepson, Edward Yoder; grandchildren, Daniel (Brittney) Roden, Kirsten, Hunter, Alyssa and Ava Farley; great grandson, Peyton Frier; and many nieces and nephews. Also former wife Bunny Higginbotham Farley; and brother-in-law to Linda Petrucci Kimsey and Ron Petrucci.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Kaleem, Dr. Castillo, Dr. Lee, and Dr. Minton, Jordan Holden, Coosa Family Care, Gadsden Regional Medical Center, and Encompass Rehab.
