Harvey William Stone

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at North Glencoe Baptist Church for Harvey William Stone, 66, of Glencoe, who went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 20, 2013. Rev. David Denson will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Harvey was born March 20, 1946 in Gadsden, AL to his parents, Harvey and Evelyn Stone He was a longtime resident of Glencoe. Harvey was employed by Mid-South Electronics before his retirement.

He was a dedicated member of North Glencoe Baptist Church for many years. Despite being confined to a wheel chair in his later years, he continued to faithfully attend services, waving his flag.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Randy Stone.

He is survived by three sisters: Melba (Ray) Lambert, of Austell, GA, Ollie (Hinkey) McNeil, of Quitman, MS and Beth (Joe) Cothran, of Glencoe AL; one brother, David (Connie) Stone, of Carrollton, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Active and honorary pallbearers will be: Bud Gamblin, Ricky Wain, Dennis McLendon, Ken Lankford, Randy Barber, David Holmes, Gene Munn, Tommy Youmans, and Dennis Nunnelly.

The family would like to thank Gadsden Regional Medical Center SICU and Amedysis hospice (particularly, Kim and Skyler) for the loving care they provided during his illness.

Visitation will be at North Glencoe Baptist Church Wednesday, January 23, 2012 from 11:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
