Emma Sue Bonner Midgley, age 92 of Mobile, AL, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015. There will be a private funeral service at Collier- Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Spiller of Christ United Methodist Church officiating. The burial will be at Forrest Cemetery. Collier- Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Mrs. Midgley graduated from Tallassee High School. For many years she worked for Brownell Travel in Birmingham, AL. She entered a very successful hotel business with her husband in 1967 and retired in 1982. Mrs. Midgley enjoyed traveling the world throughout her life; from Alaska, Asia, New Zealand and Europe. She also enjoyed playing Bunco, birdwatching in her yard and spending time with her family. Sue enjoyed going to Church. Sue also enjoyed her Church “buddies” as she called them and their great admiration of their Pastor Jeff Spiller.
Mrs. Midgley was preceded in death by her parents, Nanny Smith and John Thomas Bonner; son, Howard Bennett Holmes; sisters, Marie Bonner Lindsey, Mozelle Bonner Burmeister; three brothers, Ray Bonner, Smith Bonner, and Spurgeon Bonner.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Charles Holley Midgley; his sons, Charles Holley Midgley, Jr. of Mentone, AL, Charles Shepard Midgley (Cheryl) of Gadsden, AL; Grandson, Charles Holley Midgley III (Cassandra), Gaithersburg, MD; sister, Nancy Bonner Morris of Panama City, FL; nieces, Amarylis P. Lamb(James) of Jefferson, GA, Johanna Mia Burmeister-Laws(Mathew), and Gina Michele Burmeister (Philip) of Daphne, AL and many other beloved nieces and nephews.
