Mr. Cowart was employed in the construction industry as a plasterer and at age thirty, he began his own company in Marietta, GA. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman.
He was a faithful member of James Memorial Baptist Church for over 50 years serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Lynn was a Christian gentleman known for his smile and saw beauty in all of God’s creation.
He was an original member of the University of Alabama’s Tide Pride program. He enjoyed the games as long as his health permitted.
He is survived by Jo Ann (Cash), his loving wife and best friend of 63 years and his sons, David (Kenda) of Waleska, GA and Randall (Belinda) of Powder Springs, GA. He is survived by his grandsons Dustin (Stephanie), Preston (Rita), Talem, Zachary, Chase, great-grandsons, Jackson, Brayden, Logan, and one great-granddaughter, Aria. Two sisters Mary Nell Cowart and Gladys Boles and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Noel, Hayden, John, and Ray Cowart and Sisters Erline McKlvie, and Flora Cunningham.
Funeral Service will be 12:30pm Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Rev. Vince Whittington and Dr. James Sampley will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 15th, from 10:30am until the time of the service. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sam Ashley, Rick Fraiser, Joe Hall, Donnie Hunter, Bob Lowery, Steve Snyder, and Robin Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, John Mayes, Pat Sherrill, and. JP Lipscomb
Memorials may be made to James Memorial Baptist Church, 2125 Ewing Avenue, Gadsden, AL or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
