Carey Lee Harden went home to be with our Lord and Savior on November 13, 2023. He was a loving husband, father, and friend to those who knew him well. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Carey Harden, Jr., and his mother, Patricia Gilliland Harden (“Papa” Curtis). He is survived by his wife of 27 years Kim, his daughter Savannah Clough, his son Noah Harden (Meredith), his son Jonah Harden, his aunt Debbie Green, his aunt Pam Prater, his grandchildren Leevi and Llayton, and many other close friends and family members.
Carey was born and raised in Gadsden, AL. He graduated from Jacksonville State University. He had a successful career as a General Sales Manager for local car dealerships, where he touched the lives of many and developed lasting friendships. He served as an assistant Scoutmaster to Troop 777 with his boys for many years. He was a member of Freedom Church and attended with friends and family at The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. He loved the Lord and spent many hours reading and studying his Bible. Through the years he taught youth and the Seasoned Saints. He was a member of the board for the Theatre of Gadsden. He was passionate about the outdoors and all things Alabama Football.
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, November 19, 2023 at 2 pm at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, with visitation from 12-2 pm. Rev. Bruce Word will officiate with special music by Jonathan Wilburn.
Carey recently battled with and won his recent fight with cancer. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cancer Society, Freedom Church of Gadsden, or the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in his honor.
