Bill graduated in 1958 from Emma Sansom High School. He continued on to attend Northeast State University, Gadsden State Jr. College, University of Alabama - Gadsden, as well as serving time in the US Army. He had a decades long banking career in which he retired. During his banking career, he attended many institutions for education such as the American Bankers Association, American Institute of Bankers, and RMA Omega Commercial Loans to Business.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed classes at Silver Sneakers, fishing, tennis, Alabama football, and smoking his pipe. In the last few months of his life, he enjoyed going for rides in his truck with Mike and Blake.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Lowe and Rosella Dickerson Lowe; brother, Danny D. Lowe.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Parris Lowe; daughters, Dianna Lowe Henson of Huntsville, AL, and Suzan Lowe of Georgia; son, Michael (Diane) Lowe of Hartselle; sisters, Melba Lowe Rogers of Georgia, Retha (Wally) Lowe Burns of Southside; sister in laws, Kay (Steve) Parris Small, Rhenetta (Patrick) Parris Gallagher; brother in law, Vernon (Joyce) Parris; grandchildren, Joseph Henson of California, Johnathan (Danielle) Henson of Huntsville, Ashlyn (JD) Henson Calsyn of California, Blake Lowe of Hartselle; 4 step grandchildren; great granddaughter, Amelia "Emmy" Henson of London, UK, Savanna Henson of Huntsville; and great grandson, Sawyer Henson of Huntsville; as well as many cousins, other family members, and numerous dear friends.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Henson, Jonathan Henson, Blake Lowe, Bubba Riddle, Brad Ryder, and Robert Ray.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Dixon, Vernon Parris, Wally Burns, Billy Poe, James Peoples, Emma Sansom Class of 1958 classmates, and Centre Odyssey Silver Sneakers.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Amedysis Home Care & Hospice of Rainbow City, Rev. Eddie Nations, Rev. Jerry Bethune, First Baptist Church Centre, and Pianist Julie Pittman.
A visitation for Billy will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Collier Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden, AL. Burial to follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens in Gadsden, AL
