Betty Sue Perry passed away at home on January 31, 2023 at the age of 81. She was born January 17th, 1942 in Gadsden Alabama. She was a lifelong resident of Etowah County. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Garry Robert Perry. They were married for 62 years. She is survived by daughters, Laura Fulmer and Victoria Hanlon; and son in law, John Hanlon. She has 4 grandchildren Thomas Hanlon, Matthew Hanlon, Sean Fulmer and Eva Fulmer. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She graduated from Gaston High School where she was salutatorian, and was on the first squad of cheerleaders at Gaston. She also attended Gadsden State Community College and Jacksonville State University where she had a double major in Biology and Chemistry and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She had many hobbies including sewing, cooking and crafts. She was an excellent seamstress and made her own wedding dress and all of her bridesmaid dresses for her wedding. She had a craft business at one time where she sold many of her sewing and painting creations.
She was a big Alabama football fan and never missed a football game. She didn't usually follow the NFL but if you told her one of Alabama players were playing on an NFL team she made an exception. Penn State and Air Force Academy football teams were two others she followed closely since they were alma maters of her grandchildren.
She loved reading and had an extensive book collection. Some of her most cherished books were by mystery writers such as Agatha Christie, and Rex Stout. She enjoyed mystery shows as well like Murder She Wrote and NCIS. Another favorite show though not a mystery was The Voice and she never missed an episode.
The funeral will be held at Collier Butler Funeral Home on Monday, February 6th at 11:00 am. Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery.
