Super Sam, known for his charm, compassion for others and love for God fought bravely through three battles with the rare cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma. He fought without complaint for 13 months before being called home.
Super Sam with his charismatic and witty personality, possessed an ability to win over anyone who met him: even in the face of his terrible illness. He taught us what true strength, bravery and Faith are all about.
He prided himself on being the best brother to his twin sister “Awesome Ava.” These two share a bond like no other. Ava, Sam’s “best medicine,” was by his side every step of the way…even asking to take the cancer herself, so her brother didn’t have to endure any more pain.
Sam was the cherished and beloved son to his parents Matt and Cassie Santhuff of Fulton, MO. Sam’s focus was always on family; at the tender age of 6, he knew what was really important in life… he had it all figured out. Sam loved his Papa and Nana: Jim and Martha Wayne of Fulton, MO and was welcomed into Heaven by his Grandparents: Larry and Sandra Santhuff of Centerville, MO. Sam was always eager to take a trip to “the country” to see Uncle Danny, Aunt Tracey and cousins Andrew, Abbi and Cody Turner of Bunker, MO. He always enjoyed a visit with Uncle “Catfish” and Aunt Mindy Santhuff, along with cousins AJ and Holly Pollack of Centerville, MO. Sam would beg for trips to see his cousins, Tony and Aaron at Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Jennifer Wayne’s house in Overland Park, KS where he learned how to play hockey this last summer before his bone marrow transplant.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24th at First Christian Church of Fulton, MO from 4-7:00 pm The funeral will follow on Wednesday, Sept. 25th at 1:00pm. The family invites you to join them in honoring Sam’s life with a balloon release as he is laid to rest at Memorial Gardens following the ceremony. Gold balloons will be available to all those who wish to participate; it is the family’s wish to send this beautiful tribute high into the sky among his family, friends and supporters.
Super Sam and his family are members of First Christian Church of Fulton, MO and he was in first grade at St. Peter Catholic School. He was and will always be loved dearly by all… Fly High our Super Sam.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 100 Days of Comfort Fund or Super Sam Foundation for Pediatric Cancer Research both in care of First Christian Church, 6 Seventh Street, Fulton, Missouri 65251.
