On Thursday, March 31, 2016, God called home Lynette (Rhea Ann) Miller. Lynette was born on September 4, 1948, in Fulton, Missouri; the first of five daughters to bless the lives of Raymond Hill Miller and Katherine (Baumgartner) Miller.
Lynette graduated from Fulton High School in 1966 and other than a few years in Columbia, Missouri, she made Fulton her home. While in Columbia, Lynette worked for a period at the University of Missouri Medical Center where she assisted on the pediatric ward. She became attached to one of the terminally ill cancer patients: a young girl named Lynette. To honor the life of this young girl, Lynette was inspired to legally change her birth name of Rhea Ann to Lynette. This was just one act that demonstrated the compassion she had for others, especially children.
While Lynette never had children of her own, she had many young folks for whom she cared. Being the oldest of five girls, Lynette often assumed a motherly role at home: but in addition she spent over a decade providing daycare services to many young Fultonians.
Lynette loved to bake and spent many years also working in food service. She especially cherished her years in food service at Westminster College, where she enjoyed connecting with the students. But her favorite kids were her many nieces and nephews – and great nieces and nephews. Aunt Lynnie Poo taught us all that loving a child goes way beyond giving birth to a child.
She will be forever in the hearts of the family she leaves behind, including her sisters Rebecca (Larry) Rader of Columbia, Missouri, Karen (Greg) Miller of St. Charles, Missouri, Karla (Darrel) Gable of St. Louis, Missouri and Julie (Bill) Hone of Fulton, Missouri; and her mother Sarah Katherine Miller formerly of Fulton. Lynette was greeted in Heaven by her dad who preceded her in eternal life, Raymond Hill Miller.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Central Christian Church in Fulton. Burial will follow at Central Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church, 4670 State Road KK, Fulton, Missouri 65251 where Lynette was a life-long member.
