The beloved mother of Linda Rasner (Bud), Gary Collman, and Peggy Harch passed away peacefully at home on September 29, 2018. Meryl was 101 years old.Born in Fullerton California on July 3, 1917, she became revered by all who came to know her. Her Grandparents migrated from Germany in the 1800’s and moved to Anaheim to become citizens. Meryl had three loving brothers, Dave, Max, and Steve and a terrific big sister, Nina, all who have previously passed. Meryl Francis Miller (Collman) was therefore a 3rd generation Orange County resident starting in 1917. She graduated from Fullerton High School and Fullerton Junior College. Meryl joined the Navy during WW II and lived in Pensacola, Florida as a team member in teaching Naval Pilots. She later met and married George Albertus Collman and gave birth to their three kids. The Collman’s were Citrus Ranchers (growers) for many years living among the Orange trees while also keeping bees. They later moved to Yorba Linda and she very much enjoyed her family, church and friends. Her husband, Al died in 1981 and Meryl happily dedicated herself to enjoying her children and beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Harch while being part of a wonderful large family group. She had a happy and joyful life. She was aware that she was truly loved and returned that love throughout her life. Her children became 4th generation OC residents, and feel that they had a wonderful steady life because of ‘Mom’ and her enormous heart. Any who wishes to attend is invited to a short graveside ceremony at Fairhaven Mortuary, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA. Thursday October 11, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Pastor Brian Long will preside. There will be a military flag presentation by the US Navy Honor Guard recognizing her service as a sworn Navy Wave with an Honorable Discharge. Meryl will be laid to eternal rest next to her husband Al. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that you make a donation in Meryl’s name to your favorite charity.
