March 18, 2012 - Martha Jennie Rome beloved mother to four children, 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, died Sunday of natural causes. She was 87. Martha worked her entire career in Southern California as an executive secretary, retiring from Hughes Aircraft in 1990. She was married for 32 years to her dear husband George, and devoted her remaining 33 years to her family. She was very bright, well-read on many topics, an outspoken advocate for justice in the world and loved to correspond with anyone from political leaders to utility company Execs to express her views. She was a kind, selfless and generous soul. Martha was an excellent listener; always there for her family. She is survived by her 4 children, Beverly, Mark, Alyse and Alex; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sister Amy and nieces Gail and Roberta, nephews David and Jonathan, as well as the East Coast Rome Family that includes brothers-in-law Lew and Scott, sisters-in-law Judy, Nancy, Helga, and Ann, plus numerous nieces and nephews by marriage.
