Lillian Marie Ellis-Farkes "Skipper" March 5, 1923 - July 23, 2015 Skipper's life's journey transported her through some of the most challenging, important and exciting times in our Nation's history. Born in Palmer Massachusetts to Bill & Eva Archambault, she arrived in time to live through the Great Depression with her sister and three brothers, learned the lessons of hard work, family reliance and honor of God and Country. Her mother and father taught her the New England Yankee Creed of standing tall and never giving up. In high school she met and would later marry C.Richard Ellis, who flew B-24 bombers over Europe in WWII. They would have 7 children together, move from Vermont to California and enjoy the 50's American Dream until he died in 1976. Skipper worked for the school district, kept a beautiful home, raised 4 sons, 3 of whom joined the military, the 4th son joined the Boeing Aircraft Company. Her daughter Rosemary excelled in school, married the man of her dreams and gave her 4 handsome grandsons. Bill Farkes came into her life literally sweeping her off her feet. They married in 1988. Bill brought happiness, laughter, security, the travel bug and the absolute talent for Ballroom Dancing which helped them win numerous awards and trophies together. They camped and loved and helped bring into the world 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. With Bill, our Mom had a fondness for saying "The air tastes good today."
