Our handsome, amazing father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted husband, Lawrence Tomlin, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday morning, December 13, 2024, after an 18-month battle with colon and liver cancer. He lived a rich life full of love, service, and family. Larry was born on May 11, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the second of seven children born to Lawrence Sr. and Verna Mae Block.

Larry attended Santa Ana Valley High School in Santa Ana, CA. When Larry was 22 years old, his life changed forever when he met Marilyn Bravo while working as a mechanic at Leonard's in Garden Grove, CA. They were married seven months later, on November 4, 1968. Ten months later, Larry and Marilyn bought their first home on Stanford in Santa Ana, CA. They spent nine years at this address before moving to Yorba Linda, where they would call home forever. Together, they raised their family of three wonderful children: Tracy, Lisa, and Larry III.

Larry was always actively involved in the lives of his children. He played men’s soccer, competed in racing homing pigeons, coached youth soccer, and attended all his children's games and performances, always their number-one cheerleader. As his family grew to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Grandpa and Grandma Tomlin could always be counted on to make the trip and be in the stands, cheering their family on.

Larry was an accomplished and competitive pigeon racer. He cherished the friendships and weekly meetings to greet the training truck and gather at the clubhouse for race results. He was a proud member of the OCF Club in Orange, CA.

Larry’s greatest joy in life came from the time he spent with his wife, Marilyn, and their family. Some of his favorite family memories included gathering at Mile Square Park for holiday potluck meals and family games, fishing at local lakes with his grandkids, and going on road trips.

Larry lived a rich and wonderful life. During the last 18 months, he experienced colon and liver cancer. He faced his setbacks with courage and never a single complaint. He was blessed to have his loving wife, Marilyn, by his side through all his doctor’s appointments, emergency visits, and chemo treatments. She ministered to him with great tenderness, patience, and love.

Larry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Tomlin, and their children: Tracy (Charles) Kelly, Lisa (Brad) Pizza, and Larry Tomlin III. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: McKenzie (Reynold) Campbell, AJay (Malia) Pizza, Spencer Kelly, and Miles Tomlin, as well as his great-grandson, Ramsy Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Sr. and Verna Tomlin, his sister, Diane Miller, and his brothers, Jim Tomlin and Bill Tomlin.

The Tomlin family would like to express their love and gratitude to the staff at St. Jude Medical and Oncology Departments. They treated our father with respect and gave him tender loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, 902 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, CA 92832. Following the service, we will host a luncheon in honor of LT at Lamppost Pizza in the Post Pub, 5091 Richfield Road, Yorba Linda, CA 92886.
