Barbie Lybeck Cooper was born on December 7th, 1956 in Valley City, North Dakota. Shortly after her birth, the Lybecks moved to Anaheim , California. Barbie was the oldest of 3 siblings - Mary, Chuck and John. Barbie graduated from El Dorado High School, in Placentia, California. Barbie later received a degree in fashion design at Brooks College in Long Beach, California.
After college, Barbie met Larry Cooper, the love of her life. The two were wed on November of 1980. Rather than pursue a career, Barbie decided early on that she wanted to raise her children the best way possible. Her first child, Hamilton was born on March of 1982 and her second son Chasen shortly after. Barbie dedicated her life to raising her boys, all while doing numerous things for others.
Barbie was a jack of all trades. Barbie was a seamstress who enjoyed making wedding gowns, she decorated homes and was a well established realtor, she opened and ran a successful sandwich shop and an attached craft store. Barbie gracefully juggled it all. Barbie spent her life caring for and supporting her family, friends, and most of all, her husband of 43 years.
Barbie spent every summer at her “happy place”, her cabin on Lake Melissa in Minnesota. Barbie was the definition of a lake girl. All who knew Barbie will never forget her kindness, excitement and the fun that surrounded her everywhere she went. Barbie touched the lives of SO many people.
After a courageous two year battle with cancer, Barbie valiantly lost her fight on March 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Barbie is survived by her husband Larry, sons Hamilton and Chasen, granddaughters Layna and Aurora, sister Mary, brothers Chuck and John, and her mother, Lucille.
Barbie unfortunately never got to meet her new granddaughter. Barbie's wish would be that any donations go to Aurora Cooper’s college fund. Make any checks out to Aurora Cooper, they will be deposited into the account Barbie started for Aurora.
Barbie was an angel on earth, and now she truly is one in heaven.
