Bob Alton changed his permanent address to that of the Happy Hunting Grounds on June 3, 2022. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the HHG, residents enjoy unlimited hunting, fishing, camping and exploration of this deeply spiritual and boundless land. What may not be as well known, is they’ve recently added a championship golf course where no one ever shoots over par or loses a golf ball.
Bob was surrounded by his family at the end, ushering him with their love, hugs and kisses to his new home. He was just a few weeks short of his 86th birthday. Bob was born and raised in northern New York state on his family’s dairy farm, served his country as a rifle instructor in the Marine Corps and forged a career as an electrical engineer at Kodak in NY and Colorado. He loved the outdoors and everything that came with it. He was a true outdoorsman, forever in tune with his environment.
His church was Planet Earth. A non-denominational environment where everyone was equal. His rules were simple. There is right. There is wrong. Don’t confuse the two.
He also loved the Broncos. Talking about them and watching them with friends and family. But one of the skills he passed on to his kids that is still embedded in our psyches today was playing cards, cut-throat style. Take no prisoners card games were epic and happened whenever the family gathered.
His bride of 66 wonderful years Pat, survives him as do all of his five children, eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. We will miss Bob forever, but now he’s where all the physical ailments accumulated during a lifetime of work, can no longer touch him.
Rest well Dad. We will be together again one day. We know you will be waiting there for us.
