Michael Alan Macdonald was born Aug. 26, 1947, to Donald A. Macdonald and Edna Faye (Reef) Macdonald in Chico, California. Michael was the oldest of seven children.
He spent his formative years in different cities across California, Nevada, and Indiana. He was a retired Marine, a Vietnam Vet 66-70, was stationed at 8th and I in Washington DC, and he was part of the Presidential Honor Guard for Presidents Nixon and Johnson. He received the following metals for his service: Purple Heart; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnamese Service Medal, with 1 star; Vietnamese Campaign Medal, with device; Combat Action Ribbon; Presidential Unit Citation; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry Unit Award. After the Marines, Michael was an active member of the fire department for the state of California.
Michael had three children, Stacey, Lindsey, and Brian. Michael and family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1984. He worked for HP in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Greeley.
Michael loved the outdoors and taking his family on trips to teach them of history. He would take his family camping and loved spending time with family.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Lindsey Macdonald, by his parents Donald and Edna, and his sisters Sandie and Susan.
He is survived by his son Brian Macdonald and grandchildren Leslie Macdonald and Maximus Macdonald; his daughter Stacey (Jered) Bridgeman; grandchildren, Natalie (TJ) Blodgett, Emily Pieza, Abigail Pieza, Patrick Pieza, Kaylee Pieza; great-grandchildren, Drew and Asher; two brothers Doug and Norman; two sisters Nancy and Karen; and many more family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM, on Friday May 31, 2024 at Allnutt Funeral Service – Drake Chapel.
