2013: Jon and myself had decided to run Chicago marathon together -  a decision that has impacted my life since. Thank you Jon-though we did not run together you supported me getting to this point. 

I met Jon at the Fort Collins Club. He came to my body step classes and has great rhythm if you didn’t know that. 
Jon, it was always a pleasure chatting with you. You’ll be missed. May you rest with the saints and your memory be eternal.

I met Jon playing squash, and chit chat after playing led to a talk of interests, including poetry.  He asked if he could sit in on a class I was teaching at CSU & I said yes. The class was on Modernist poetry, some of the most difficult literature I know. Jon sat in the back wholly rapt in the conversation, and wonderfully, adding into the discussion. I’ll never forget those undergrads looking back in wonder at this mystery man in the back row, so smart, so open.  Only later did we make the connection that Ilene taught our youngest daughter Iris at Har Shalom. So sorry for this loss. 

I was lucky in college meeting a great group of guys at White Hall (karma since my moms maiden is White) being the introverted nerdy kid that I was.  And for one of our coop periods,  Jon invited me to visit his family in Puerto Rico. Spent first nite in old San Juan playing dominoes outside of a little bar. Then headed East to the Forsyth home to meet his Mom, Dad and brothers… Spent time at the beach shack & snacking on fried plantains at the beach and unfortunately breaking his mom’s car (anti sway bar) driving through the rain forest. Jon was always available to chat and help out anyone. Guys like Jon don’t cross your path too often but I’m glad we just didn’t cross.  I will miss him every day.  Be well my friend.  ‘Mikey’

I met Jon back in 1977 when he was a freshman at Northeastern University, as he was a friend of my brother Mike.   I got to know Jon and that group of college buddies during those years.  Jon was always smiling and laughing throughout each day, often with a twinkle in his eyes as he contemplated the mischievous adventures that lay ahead.  Jon always had a zest for life!  My condolences to his family and friends.  He will be missed but Jon’s spirit and zest will always live on in our hearts.  

My deepest condolences to the Forsyth family. The Forsyth family were an extended family to me in high school through Jeffrey. Words seem hollow from such a loss. Reading the obituary the consolations I humbly draw is Jon had a life well lived and is survived by a great and extended family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all always. One of my most memorable moments is taking a trip to Jon's parents beach house one weekend while in High School. There were 4 of us and we had arrived late in the afternoon and were imbibing a few drinks and decided to go down to the beach and catch the sunset. Once the sun had gone down we dared each other to go skinny dipping in the pitch black cold and rough waters. While in the water we heard girlish laughter and decided it was time to get out. Once out of the water we discovered that all our clothe were missing and we had to walk back naked and wet all the way up the hill to the beach house while knowing that we were being spied upon.  Of course the next day we tried to find out who had taken our clothes but it remains a mystery till this day.

We are saddened and heartbroken over the loss of Jon.  There are so many memories to share and so much love and support always available over the fence and beyond.  Jon's wit and humor will always be with us.
