Jakob Alan Lloyd, 19, of Ft. Collins passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023, along with his father, Shane Lloyd. Born in Ft. Collins, he was a son of Sydney (Tedrick) and Shane Lloyd. Jakob was a 2022 graduate of Fossil Ridge High School and incoming freshman at the University of Central Florida. Following in his father’s footsteps as a lifelong athlete and scholar, he spent his high school years on the wrestling, football, and lacrosse teams, where he earned his letterman jacket and was given the nickname “Shorts”.
Additionally, he earned his 1st Degree Level 3 Black Belt in Taekwondo. As a scholar, he completed the Spanish Immersion Dual Language program; received academic honors, earned the AP endorsement, and Seal of Biliteracy; was a member of the Young Men’s Service League; and played the bass in the middle and high school orchestras.
Jakob was a true friend to many in Colorado and Texas where his smile and positive attitude were contagious. He was shy but always delivered a quick witted response. He enjoyed lifting weights, rooting for the Cleveland Browns, and playing video games.
Jakob is survived by his mother, Sydney; brothers, Ben, a 2020 graduate of Fossil Ridge High School and current student at Montana State University, and Owen, a student at Timnath Middle-High School; numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joshua, and his uncle Jeremy Gregory.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 18th at 1:00pm at Faith Church in Fort Collins.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mothers Against Drunk Drivers or The Crawford Child Advocacy Center.
