Dolores Mary Suniga was born March 30, 1939 in Fort Collins, Colo., the daughter of Gregory and Ruth (Serrano) Zuniga. She was reared and educated in Fort Collins. She married Richard Gutierrez on August 22, 1959. Dolores' main priority was her family. This was reflected by devoting her life to being a homemaker and caring for Richard and the kids. She loved sports; in her early years she participated in volleyball, softball and bowling leagues. Dolores also liked to watch professional sports. The Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos and sometimes the Miami Dolphins (which she referred to as her fishies) were her favorite. Dolores loved the outdoors. Camping, fishing and hunting were favorite pastimes. Along with watching old movies, she enjoyed 50's music and dancing. Dolores had a love and compassionate heart for all animals.
In addition to her husband of 59 years, Dolores is survived by two daughters, Justine Gutierrez and Lisa (Dennis) Picklesimer and son, Richard Gutierrez; seven grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alex Suniga and Gregory Suniga, and three sisters, Toni Valdez, Emma Matinez and Matilda Rios.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles and sister, Nellie.
